Seniors Report

2017 Seniors Report   3 June

First home game in over 3 weeks and we hosted Pines.

It's fair to say in the unders that they are struggling, numbers wise but not for effort.

We won by a fair margin but the scoreboard is only a small part of what actually happens. The Piners are not scared to have a crack and even at the 19 minute mark of the last quarter, 100plus points down, they still were throwing their bodies into packs to make a contest.

Kudos to the Pines committee on continually keeping their U19 team together when other clubs would just give up. Deserves respect.

The seconds promised to be a cracker, Shorty's 400th, Joeys 300th, it was always going to be emotional. The game was worthy of a seniors gig and lived up to its expectations, no quarters given as normal in a twos game and in the end we ran out winners to bring the milestone boys home in glorious fashion.  The twos are going about their business in a quiet fashion and finals are not far away.

1 V 2, doesn't get any better than that, big crowd, fine day, had all the ingredients for a big game. 35 kg's of meat on the spit was gone by the end of the twos game, a packed grandstand and the game lived up to the hype, after an even first half we held a 10 point lead at half time but the Pines boys are proud and came out firing in the 3rd, a 3 goal 3/4 time lead was taken into the break.

It blew out to 5 goals early in the last and we pegged it back to 3 again but that's as close as we could get and Pines took the chocolates in the seniors.

It was a quality game and we can take some heart that we had a few out but Pines were too good on the day.

A week off then home again against YCW, go Tigers.

2017 Seniors Report   27 May

Another away game this time at Edithvale against the Eagles.
An 8 point game was on the line for the under 19's as Edi sat below us one game behind.
Only one on the bench made the task even more difficult and losing pancakes to a knee injury before half time made it even harder.
Boys worked their butts off but we're no match for a committed Eagle side.

The twos are playing good footy, but Eagles are always a tough task away and they were up and about early. It was tough footy with no beg pardons given and we came away with a hard fought 7point win.

The seniors are sitting second and are playing good footy. The Eagles are too especially after a good win against the Mounties, in a very tough see sawing match they matched us goal for goal until late in the 3rd when we pulled away and run out 5 goal winners.
Must say I'm disappointed with the quality of the waffle cones at Edi-Asp and they need to lift their game.
Home to pines this week in what will be a ripper game. 1V2.

2017 Seniors Report No:4

We travelled to Mornington to take on the Bulldogs, always a tough task.
125 years ago 15 young men perished in a tragic boating accident which remains to this day the worst sporting accident in Australian history.
In respect the Bulldogs wore black armbands and maintained a minutes silence marking their respect.
A lovely gesture.
Their U19's run out pumped and are always a well drilled unit, and in a tough seesawing game our young Tigers ran out winners by a goal in what was a quality game of football.
Aldo McGuinness was BOG and is having a great season.

The ressies are sitting second and were looking at consolidating against a tough team.
The game was hard fought and tight and in a real arm wrestle our boys finished stronger and ran out 16 point winners.

The seniors are on a 4 game tear and playing good footy. Mornington had a shocker last week and we knew they are too proud to play that way again.
We were pumped and ran out hard in the first quarter and took a good lead into the first break, we maintained the rage in the second but Mornington pulled back 3 goals in junk time and we had a game.
A real tough 2nd half saw it go goal for goal and whilst they kept chipping away all game we ran out 25 point winners to make it 3/3 footywise.
Edi Asp away next week and we would welcome all Junior Tigers to come along and support our senior boys.

Go Tigers

2017 Seniors Report No:3

Our seniors hosted Bonbeach this week, with a ur U19's kicking the dew of the grass in what would be the best conditions of the day.
Despite loaning Bonnie a player each quarter the boys run out massive winners with Basha kicking 4 and 11 seperate goal kickers.
Congrats to Benny Searle on his player of the round win.
Our twos played a tough, straggly game of football in very poor conditions.
In a willing game they run out winners by 3 goals in a low scoring dour affair, best was Soap, Augie and Jonty.
Our seniors made it 3 from 3 for the day with a comprehensive win against a quality side.
Damo run riot, Tommy Shaw in his 100th game was excellent and Azza Turner also excelled.
With the net ballers winning all 4 of their games we made it 7/7, a great night of celebration ahead as President Donny shouted the bar.
A bye next week for Interleague.

2017 Seniors Report No:2

Home to Karingal this week and past players day to boot.
Our 19's got off to a slow start but ground away and found ourselves only a few points down at halftime.
A great second half saw our boys run away with a good win against quality opposition keeping Karingal goal less in that time. Benny Searle continued his great form.

Our seconds keep on grinding out great wins, Karingal twos are always tough to play against and they didn't disappoint again. We keep plugging away, not giving an inch and generally overwhelm our opponents as good sides do. Jimmy Herbert was BOG and is certainly pressing for a senior game.

200 games to Azza Turner, it's fantastic to see another former junior notching up a milestone game and he never disappoints. Congrats Azza.
A plethora of U9 Yellows mascots ran out with our senior boys to start the game. They must of inspired our seniors as they hit the ground running.  A strong start led to another great win to our senior boys whilst another former junior, Bailey Schmidt, made his debut this week and was outstanding. Standing about 6'4" in the old scale, an inch or two taller than me, 😜, he is a real talent.
It's great to see so many Seaford juniors playing up at the senior club.
Remember peeps, turn up to the senior game in club colours and entry is free.
Home to Bonbeach next week, go Tigers.

2017 Seniors Report No:1

Round 3 and we venture to Langwarrin to play a club on the rise.
Their U19's are always strong, and this year is no exception.
With a squad of 30 players to choose from, their riches were on show.
A sluggish warm up became a sluggish first quarter no we found ourselves a couple of goals down, Bazza Schmidt was making his long awaited debut and didn't let us down, Coach Pete threw him in the ruck as we were losing the opportunity for first use and Bazza responded beautifully but good sides respond and their mids quickly realised and started roving to him.
Benny Seattle was again great and Basha again was damaging but too much was left to too few and we went down by about 8 goals.

Our seconds made up for it though and after a tight first half we eventually ground out a good strong win, Shorty was again superb belying his age, approx 80 late check, as was Slinger, Levi, Jonty and Snubby.

To the seniors and the 10 goal win made it 2 out of 3 and 2nd position on the ladder.
We dominated from the start with old hands Kane Taylor and Dean Williamson running amok, also good was Irvo and Rourke who is beginning to his his straps after being out for a while with injury.

At home to Karingal this week we would love to see a sea of Yellow and Black cheering us on.

Go Tigers.
